Here's to Happiness!

Almost twelve years ago to the day, in a spontaneous gesture of love and a love of the sea, I tossed a message in a bottle into the Atlantic Ocean. It was my first wedding anniversary. We had saved a small piece of the wedding cake and after enjoying the crumbs with a little wine, we penned a note:

Ed and Carol Meyers celebrated their first wedding anniversary at the Sanderling Inn Resort on February 14, 1999. They were wed on Valentine's Day in Fredericksburg, VA USA.

Included with this note is some of our wedding cake.

Peace and love to you. We wish you happiness.

We launched our message into the surf and it traveled 8,000 miles in a subtropical current, we would later learn.

Eight years later the note, protected in the corked wine bottle, washed ashore in the Turks and Caicos islands. A wonderful soul named Clint Buffington discovered it.

Bottle Tossers

Clint set about to finds us. He googled. No luck. He contacted Fredericksburg City Hall. No luck. He contacted a reporter with the Freelance-Star, who published his story.

Friends told us of the article detailing Clint's quest and before long, we were in touch. {Thank you Cathy Dyson for connecting us!}

Clint traveled by train two summers ago from Illinois to Washington, D.C., to meet the bottle tossers in person. What an amazing individual with many of his own stories and gifts to share. {Clint returned to D.C. earlier this month for a reunion. Dude, you rock!}

The Peace&Love and Happiness Project

Now, as the one year anniversary of my humble blog nears, I am launching another peace project.

I will metaphorically toss-into-the-sea greetings of peace&love -- and happiness. This time, the glass vessel will not be a wine bottle but strands of glass pearls and iridescent crystals, hand knotted with. . . .

Look for small packages in unexpected places. And then connect with me, Clint style.

A bientot!

Simply Breathtaking

Oh my. This glorious Badgley Mishka couture creation, shown in New York yesterday, takes my breath away. I especially LOVE the colors, which coincidentially resemble PMS 242 and 243 ... the colors of my soon-to-debute new logo. Watch this space for more.

Dites moi, SVP, what makes your heart sing?
